💻 Meta's Muse Glimmer could bring AI agents on-site

In summary: Meta just released Muse Glimmer, a 30B-parameter open-weight model built for local, always-on agent workflows — designed to run entirely offline on consumer hardware, no data centre required.

The details: 

  • Muse Glimmer targets low-latency agentic use cases, built to complete multi-step tasks end-to-end from a single natural-language prompt.

  • The weights ship under a permissive Apache 2.0 licence

  • Meta published a technical blog and developer resources hub alongside the release

Why it matters: Not every project can be online or send data to a foreign data centre, but every one can run a model like this on site. A local model could support a programme manager check progress, or a design manager scan RFI responses for possible variations.

🏷️ Frontier AI labs agree to invisibly watermark text

In summary: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Microsoft and Mistral just signed the EU's Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content, committing all six to invisibly watermark AI-generated text, while xAI is the one major lab that didn't sign.

The details: 

  • The EU's AI Act transparency rules took effect this month, requiring clear labels on AI-generated content across the bloc

  • The act is intended to help people recognise when they are interacting with AI or are exposed to AI-generated content

  • Firms that skip labelling or miss other transparency requirements face fines, pushing labs to build compliance straight into their products

  • Details of the announcement can be found in the European Commission website

Why it matters: EU regulations give birth to new industries. For example: sustainability regulations spawned a whole layer of ESG advisers, auditors and reporting tools. AI transparency rules are set to do the same, and firms building AI-governance and provenance services now could own a new consultancy niche in the market.

🧩 Automatic fine-tuning can unlock niche AI experts

In summary: Start-up ‘Fastino’ was able to fine-tune two open-weight models of ‘NVIDIA's Nemotron 3.5 Lightning’ (one for finance and one for healthcare) with no manual experiment design required

The details: 

  • Nvidia's Nemotron 3.5 Lightning is a general-purpose open-weight foundation model, released open source this week

  • Fastino built the models with its autonomous Fine-Tuning Agent, which automates the pipeline instead of running it with a human in the loop

  • The expensive work is shifting from running fine-tuning experiments to sourcing clean domain data and proving the model actually works

Why it matters: Firms in the construction sector who have well structured data (such as NBS, BCIS or SearchLand) could turn proprietary datasets into specialist models rather than just licensing the raw data. This also opens the door for evermore niche models: instead of one broad construction model, the market could fragment into narrow experts for contracts, cost, planning and specifications.

🎶 Start-up turns installing solar panels into a choreography problem

In summary: San Francisco start-up Libra Robotics just completed a live field demo of its collaborative robot squads, automating solar panel transport, placement, alignment and fastening of a PV panel array

The details: 

  • The robots demoed at FTC Solar's Robo Day in Seguin, Texas - the first industry event built around utility-scale solar robotics

  • Six rival robotics firms, including Civ Robotics and RoboForce, ran their own demos at the same event, each covering a different install phase

Why it matters: There are many tasks in construction which follow a similar repeatable: roofing and placement of exterior panelling in new builds are two of them. Once a subcontractor can show a track record of few or no defects, insurers might have the appetite cover them, and the rest of the industry will follow.

In summary: OpenAI just launched Computer History in ChatGPT's desktop app, giving the assistant persistent memory of everything you do across every app and website on your machine, so it needs far less explaining before it can help.

The details: 

  • The feature, called Computer History, lives inside the ChatGPT desktop app only, not the web or mobile versions of the assistant

  • It captures activity across every open app and website on the machine, not just conversations happening inside ChatGPT itself

  • OpenAI frames the feature as reducing repeated explanation, with future interactions needing far less context from the user each time

Why it matters: Autonomous vehicles needed models that learn from huge amounts of observed behaviour, not just cameras and sensors, to decide — and OpenAI can now gather that behavioural data passively. That means they’ll have at their fingertips behavioural data to train models from AEC professionals (and other industries)

AEC's likely new hire: ‘Behavioural IP Lead‘ - this is also an opportunity for organisations to retain knowledge that now leave when talented individuals retire / resign
